One person rowing can beat two people paddling. So why are you still paddling your canoe? With this attachment, your canoe can be like a rowing shell. Don't think stodgy, slow rowboat. You'll be amazed how your canoe flies easy across the water under oar power. And rowing is great exercise, because it uses your big muscles, it's balanced (not a twisting motion like paddling) and it is fun so you'll actually do it. Row trolling is a great way to fish. Teach you kids to row. Do river float trips with complete control, even solo.
The key to efficient rowing is getting the oarlocks out far enough from your body to give you good leverage. Canoes with oarlocks are too narrow for efficient rowing. This attachment gets the oarlock out an additional foot on each side.
Since one person rowing beats two paddling, imagine how much better solo rowing is than solo paddling!
The seat will be useful just as an added seat, even if you are not rowing some of the time. The rowing outriggers snap into the seat and can just as easily be removed. Everything comes apart and folds with no tools required for compact transporting and storage. Clamps to the canoe and requires no drilling or other tools for installation. Easy off, easy on, with no modification of the canoe.
We also offer wheels that attach to the seat ("slip-on wheels"). Wheels not included, but available.
Everything breaks down for easy transport and storage. The whole thing fits in 8" x 8" x 47" box! Weighs only 18 pounds!
What's included: Clamp-on seat that adjusts to fit different canoe widths, clamps, rowing outriggers, oarlock sockets (accept half-inch pin), pair of 7-foot oars, 2 clamp-on oarlocks. The seat is our "Accessory Seat" that is strong and wide with a foam cushion. This is a complete rowing package that includes everything you need to row a canoe (except the canoe and the water).
Not included: Canoe, anything not mentioned in first sentence of preceding paragraph.
